Character Name: Caledon Hockley
Character Age: Approx. 30 years
Physical Description or Celebrity Claim: Listen to your friend Billy Zane. He's a cool dude.
Class (1st, 2nd, 3rd, or Crew): First Class, naturally. The only one that matters.
Strengths (at least 3):
Weaknesses (at least 3):
Personality: Cal is selfish, cold, and arrogant. He believes heartily in his own superiority, and will never let you forget it. He can also be controlling and can get very angry when things don't go his way. He actually does love Rose in his way, which is more like the way he loves his money or his cars or his other possessions. He has no taste for art, preferring to indulge in other pleasures, such as opera and ballet (and even then, it's mostly just for show). Cal is all about appearances and propriety. He cares nothing for the suffering of the poor, and in fact, barely notices their existence except for the fact that they give him someone to be superior over. Being superior is important to him, which is why he had to be a passenger on the maiden voyage of the largest, fastest, grandest ocean liner ever built.
If he wants something, he will stop at nothing to get it, and that includes people. He doesn't care who gets hurt in the process. Winning is everything to Cal. You don't want to cross him, because he will spare you no mercy.
History: Cal is the only son of Nathan Hockley, a steel tycoon from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. He was raised in a life of privilege and class, given the best education and opportunities. He was spoiled terribly, but not really loved. As such, he has never really learned to love, only to value money and possessions. His father hired a former Pinkerton detective, Spicer Lovejoy, to be his valet in order to "keep an eye" on his son, who had a bit of a reckless streak in his youth.
He must marry in order to inherit his family's millions. While on business in Philadelphia, Cal met the beautiful, young Rose DeWitt-Bukater. Instantly he was charmed by her and he began courting her, even bringing her on an escorted trip to England, where he proposed to her. Now he is bringing her home on board the Titanic, and is looking forward to presenting Rose to his family, friends, and peers upon his triumphant arrival in America.
RP Sample:
Caledon Hockely stepped out of the car, a superior smile on his face. Raising his head, he glanced up at the massive ship in front of him. It filled his vision, a grand spectacle that swallowed up the horizon and blocked out everything else around it. It was beautiful; the largest and most superior ship ever built. So many superlatives had been heaped upon the ship, and he knew beyond a shadow of a doubt that the Titanic would make history. The largest, the fastest, the strongest, the grandest. Unsinkable, they called it. Just by being part of the ship's maiden voyage, Cal would become part of history. Remembered forever. Just the thought of it filled him with pride.
Another thing that filled him with pride was the beautiful jewel that had accompanied him. No, not the necklace he had purchased for his bride-to-be. It was the exquisite redhead who had been sitting beside him in the car. He took her hand and helped her out of the car, pausing for a moment to admire her aristocratic beauty. She was magnificent, and surely a credit to him. He couldn't wait to present her to his father.
"There it is, Rose," he said, waving his hand toward the Titanic in a grandiose gesture. "What do you think?"
Your Name (or name on the board): You may call me Cal. Or Sir. Or Your Majesty. Whatever suits you.
