Jack didn't doubt that the first class meal would be perfect. "Its crowded," came his reply. "Although, its nice. I mean we have enough room and you get to meet different people every night. The people there are nice and are always willing to talk. I don't think there has been a time that I've eaten and not laughed. Meal times are more than likely the highlight of most of the 3rd class passengers' day." He was smiling as he spoke of the people. Jack couldn't have asked to be with a better group on the ship.
"Sure, the food is not always the best, but its decent and fills an empty stomach." He smiled again.

Rose didn't remember the last time she'd eaten in the company of others had had laughed. She almost wanted to suggest that they skipped the 1st Class dinner and ask if he'd take her to the 3rd Class one. She would never get away with that, though.
"I should go soon," she said after a moment, though she truly didn't want to. "I just wanted to let you know that dinner is at seven, and you can meet us at the foreward staircase. The one with the clock."

"We wouldn't want Cal wondering where you have been all this time. I think that he would stray a few hairs if he found out that you spoke to me in long periods of time." Jack smiled. "But I will be there on time and dressed nicely. I'll be extra sure to be well mannered around your mother." He gave her a wink.
"And Rose? It was good to see you again." Jack knew that if she didn't come to the 3rd Class dance tonight, this would more than likely be the last time he could have a conversation with her like this. Even if she came to the dance, once the ship docked in New York he would more than likely never see her again because she would be with Cal.

"Cal will just have to understand. You did save my life, afterall." Twice, but she didn't say that. She would have jumped if Jack didn't come when he did, and if he hadn't insisted on getting her back over, she would have slipped to her death. "Even emotionless as he seems, he is greatful. He's not a bad man, Jack." Rose didn't hate Cal. She only hated the life he represented, the one he was forcing her in to.
She stood, and smiled at him, close lipped, before she nodded. "It was good to see you again as well. I will see you at dinner." Still, she hesitated, maybe waiting for a goodbye before she left, or waiting for him to ask her to stay. There was no time, though, and Trudy would already be in her room, waiting to help her change.

Grateful? Jack thought that if Cal was grateful, he would have treated Rose better. He had paid attention to them one time before and he thought that Cal treated her more or less like a child in a way. Of course, Jack didn't voice his opinion.
He stood up and took her hand. Jack gently lifted her arm and brought her hand to his lips. Once he pressed a gentle kiss to her hand, Jack smiled and let her hand go. "I'll see you tonight."

Rose almost teased him about practicing for later, but she held her tongue. One dinner, and it would all be over. A good conversation, a friend made, and then back to her repetative life as a decoration for Cal's arm.
"I'll see you tonight. Remember, the staircase, at 7 o'clock," she repeated, smiling gently, and then she took a step back. "Goodbye, Jack." There was nothing else to say, and she needed to get dressed, so she turned and started back towards her room.
